I run a personalised Deer School and Hunters Education Course based on both theory and practical elements, including hunting out in the field for Sambar, Red & Fallow Deer.
The course covers all topics including:
- safety, etiquette & first aid supplies
- general hunting equipment including camo gear & backpacks
- binoculars, scopes & thermal monoculars
- UHF radios, handheld GPS & personal locator beacon (PLB)
- various rifle and calibre types
- compound bow hunting
- different species of deer and their behaviour
- learning to track deer and spot signs
- hunting techniques
- shot placement required for an ethical kill
- field butchering and carrying out the deer
- popular venison food recipes
The field course can be based in various State Forests and National Parks (where permitted), and private property when accessible.
Pricing is $500 per person (maximum 6 attendees) for a 2 day course.
Note: A current Firearms Licence and GMA Deer Hunting Licence (from the VIC Game Management Authority) are prerequisites for attending the Deer Hunter Education Course.
Camo clothing is recommended for the field training course. Firearms are not permitted to be used by attendees (for group safety).
